Developing an appreciation for classical music begins early by participating in “Sound Foundation.” Families have a great vantage point to experience our wonderful symphony and nurture the enjoyment and understanding of classical music.
The HSO is thrilled to offer extremely discounted Masterworks Subscriptions to students who attend with a parent, grandparent, teacher or mentor to help facilitate an appreciation for live classical music.

The Sound Foundation Program is part of the HSO's ongoing commitment to foster a love of live classical music in our community's youngsters and youth.
For some of the younger audience members, knowing just how to approach a concert in the Forum (which in itself can be awe-inspiring with 1,837 seats) may be a bit overwhelming.
The HSO’s new Welcome to the Concert program is designed to help demystify the Masterworks concert program for young concert-goers. The premise behind Welcome to the Concert is simple: if you know a little bit about the music and the musicians performing, you will gain more enjoyment and meaning from the program.
Each Masterworks concerts has an underlying theme behind the music. In our Welcome to the Concerts program we take the theme and offer hands-on activities appropriate for that concert theme.
Sound Foundation subscribers are invited to attend these FREE (with concert ticket) pre-concert programs. Come learn about what you will see on-stage, make a concert-related craft, even have a concert-related snack with us!
